First return to Aizawl
Our breakfast was far more modest than last night's supper and we were packed in good time for me to settle accounts. The hotel was as expected, but the food, paid separately to Lalromawii in the restaurant, was ludicrously cheap - about £9 for everything we've eaten in the past few days. With great persuasion she accepted £15, then showered us with gifts, including a bamboo hat and rush sweeping brush, until our Sumo turned up shortly after 9.00.
The Sumo was fuller than the outward trip with ten instead of eight. We only made two short stops, first for prayer, second for fuel. We were pretty stiff by the time we arrived in Aizawl.
We were dropped off outside our old hotel where our big bag had been left. We were just pleased our travel bags were still on the roof - nothing was tied on. But we forgot our gifts which were tucked behind the back seat.
We dumped our bags and popped out; very close I'd noticed The Chocolate Room - turned out to be a very lovely café. Jen's cheesecake particularly impressed.
Afterwards we spent fifteen minutes admiring the erection of a new utility pole. During lunch the power failed; I suspect it was due to the work going on. Again, mostly flip flops being worn, ropes from a balcony above and the guy hanging off our balcony was crazy. One person was wearing a helmet (a scooter helmet) who appeared to be the foreman. Madness trying to slide it into place between all the existing cables and fibres.
As a lazy gesture, but also in mind of our wonderful Kolkata experience, supper was a local pizza house. What a disappointment. I think it was cooked from frozen, soggy and just functional. And cost more than our combined feasts from Thenzawl.
Our timing has been poor for visiting the special school we were involved with on our first visit. It's now expanded greatly and we're looking forward to heading there tomorrow.

What an adventure you're having ! Stay safe ❤️
