First India day feels long.

We arrived in Bangalore around midnight UK time, but another hour to be processed by immigration. Mithra and Disha collected and drove us to the guest house.

Bengaluru Terminal 2 is fairly new and has won awards for low environmental impact design and build; it's hard to imagine how using bamboo for facing really alters the overall equations of flying, but maybe that's overly cynical.

The guest house is lovely and comfy with a large room; we slept from about 7.30 when we arrived until 11.00.

Disha collected us by 1.30 and took us home where her father Mithra and mother Irene fed us a fabulous fried fish dish and butter chicken, along with various rice and veg.

Some gift exchanging and formal welcome before heading to the city centre.

More on traffic another time, but we ended up heading to Lalbagh Park for the floral exhibition celebrating the life and philosophy of Basaveshwara, a famously egalitarian "saint". Several amazing details of the display:
Traffic around the roundabout outside the gate was, mostly (but not entirely), circulating clockwise. Beyond this it was chaotically being kept flowing by several police officers.
There are enormous numbers of flowers on several levels. These are constantly being swapped for fresher specimens.
The glass house in Lalbergh Park is nearly 140 years old and is a cast iron structure, cast in Glasgow.

It's now 2245 India time and I keep dropping the tablet. Must go to bed. Goodnight.
